My partner grinds her teeth at night. She has grinded them so hard her back teeth are cracking. How can we stop her from grinding her teeth while she sleeps
Grinding teeth...?
She probably needs to see a Dr., b/c grinding at night is caused by stress and worry. She may need a mild sedative to take at night to help her to relax when she sleeps. A cheap, short-time remedy is to go to a local sports or drug store and get a mouth-guard like the ones that football players wear (they are cheap). The dentist will make a custom mouth-guard to fit her, but they cost about $300.00 and does the same job as the other.
Reply:get her a fitted mouth guard..... from dentist
Reply:If she will do this... they have teeth guards that you can bye that will fit on the top teeth for that purpose!
Reply:i grind my teeth at night also, have forever as far as i know.
you can go to any drug store and buy a teeth protector over the counter.
ask the pharmasist, tell him the problem and they can show you what to buy.
its just like a thin almost rubbery piece that goes over your teeth, so when ya grind they dont rub together.
Reply:i grind my teeth in my sleep. and my dentist made me a bit.
its like a mouth gaurd. but it is a perfect fit. its doesnt take long for them to do. and realy helps. at first its a little uncomfortable but she will get used to it. make sure to tell the dentist thats shes grinding her teeth in her sleep.
Reply:Teeth grinding is a symptom of several things, parasites, and deep seated hostility. Dentists offer a mouthpiece.
Reply:I have this too. It%26#039;s called bruxism. It only happens to me when I am experiencing stress in my life.
The doctor told me they have mouthguards for that. They can also prescribe a relaxant. I found the mouthguard to be too much of a bother to sleep in, and the relaxant made me tired all day.
I don%26#039;t do anything for it now, but try to reduce stressors in my life. It also helps that I am a massage therapist and can do some massage work on my own face when I need.
Reply:I would go to the dentist for more than one reason. The dentist can get her a mouth gaurd and also adjust her bite .When my bite is off I will catch myself grinding.Another reason why she should go to the dentist is those cracked teeth they need to be looked at right away.I wish you luck.
Reply:bring ur partner to the dentist soon. the dentist would provide a mouth guard to protect ur partner%26#039;s teeth. if a solution is not found, ur partner can grind down her teeth very badly (attrition) and this can also cause TMJ problems.
Reply:The same exact thing happened to me, and I have 4 cracked teeth in the back. I have to get crowns now to protect them, and a retainer to prevent me from doing anymore damage.
